Turkey’s state-run carrier Turkish Airlines has decided to buy 150 aircraft from Boeing. These aircraft will be delivered between 2033 and 2037.
In a statement on Wednesday, Turkish Airlines said a decision had been made to buy a total of 150 aircraft from Boeing. Of these, the purchase order for 100 Boeing 737 MAX has been confirmed, and an option to buy 50 more has been kept.
News agency AFP reported this from Ankara.
The announcement came during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to New York. A day earlier, he took part in US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Middle East leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump described it as ‘a big day for Boeing and America’s manufacturing sector’. In the same post, he said Bangladesh is also planning to buy more Boeing aircraft.
Trump said this deal would bring sales worth tens of billions of dollars and create jobs for several thousand people in the United States.
About a year ago, Turkish Airlines had announced the purchase of another 225 aircraft from Boeing. That announcement came after a meeting between Erdogan and Trump at the White House.
Turkish Airlines is headquartered at Istanbul Airport. The carrier has 514 aircraft in its fleet. According to information on its website, it operates flights to more than 130 countries and carried 92.6 million passengers in 2025.
