WUB STEM Carnival 2026 has been held at World University of Bangladesh (WUB) with the aim of making the young generation interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and developing their creativity and innovative skills.
Students from more than a hundred colleges across the country took part in the day-long carnival at the university campus in Uttara, Dhaka on 22 September. Through various science-based competitions and innovative activities, the students got the opportunity to showcase their knowledge, creativity, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Professor Dr M Nurul Islam, pro-vice chancellor of World University of Bangladesh, was the chief guest at the inaugural session. In his presence, the carnival was formally inaugurated at the university’s Founding Treasurer Morsheda Chowdhury Auditorium. Also present at the event were Registrar Professor Zaki Imam, Dean of Academic Affairs and Research Professor Dr AQM Shafiul Azam, and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering Professor Dr Mohammad Kamruzzaman.
The carnival had four main events — Mathematical Olympiad, Science & ICT Olympiad, Quiz Competition and Project Showcasing. Students of HSC, A level and Alim levels took part. The total prize money for the event was Tk 3 lakh. Winners were given certificates and crests along with cash, while participants were given certificates of participation.
One of the attractions of the event was Project Showcasing. In it, different teams of students presented their innovative projects in various fields including robotics, sustainable development and engineering design. The teams of two to four members showcased their creativity, technical skills and ability to turn ideas into real solutions. The event began at 9:00am with registration and reception. After day-long Olympiads and quiz competitions, the prize-giving and closing ceremony was held in the afternoon.
Through the carnival, the students got the opportunity to exchange scientific ideas among themselves, learn from their peers, work in teams and present their innovative thinking. At the same time, the event also placed importance on developing the students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and presentation skills.
WUB STEM Carnival 2026 plays a role as an effective platform for creating interest in science and technology among the young generation, developing innovative thinking and building the skills needed to face the challenges of the future.
