Bangladesh has strongly condemned the killing of two Bangladeshi nationals in a deadly Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The country has also called for an immediate end to the conflict and for the protection of civilians.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh is maintaining contact with the Saudi authorities. The aim is to gather detailed information on the Bangladeshis killed and injured and to provide the necessary assistance to those affected.
The statement further said the casualties occurred in the attack of 10 October. Many people were injured in it, and a number of them are in critical condition.
Bangladesh has expressed deep sorrow and sincere condolences to the affected families, including those of the Bangladeshis killed. It also wished all the injured a swift and full recovery.
The statement said, ‘This attack, which endangered the lives of civilians and targeted civilian infrastructure, is unacceptable and should stop immediately.’
Following the attack, Bangladesh reiterated its firm solidarity with the government and brotherly people of Saudi Arabia. In the interest of regional peace, security and stability, the country made three calls: an immediate end to the conflict, protection of civilians and infrastructure, and a peaceful resolution of the ongoing crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.
