Shah Rukh releases first song from ‘King’ on his birthday, with Ed Sheeran, Arijit and Madhubanti on one track

Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan has released the first song from his new film ‘King’ on his 61st birthday. Deepika Padukone appears with him in the song, titled ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’. The joint vocals of British singer Ed Sheeran with Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi are the song’s special attraction, and this has generated extra interest among viewers and listeners.
Shah Rukh released the song on social media at midnight on Monday. The visuals feature romantic moments between Shah Rukh and Deepika as well as quite a bit of action; King Khan is seen engaging in hand-to-hand fights and gunfights with enemies. Towards the end of the song, Shah Rukh’s voice is heard saying, ‘And this time the heart has caught fire, so he will not stop without burning the world.’
It is being seen as Shah Rukh’s gift to his fans. On social media he wrote, ‘This season of love is only for the lucky ones. Where roses bloom even amid the smell of gunpowder. With love and all the other battles… this December.’
Although the song has made waves, audience reactions are not uniform. Many have praised the chemistry between Shah Rukh and Deepika, as always. Others, however, see traces of Shah Rukh’s two previous films, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, in the song’s picturisation.
Still, many fans are thrilled to get so many artistes in one song. One wrote, ‘Ed Sheeran, Shah Rukh, Deepika and Arijit Singh in one frame — this is not just a collaboration, it is a recipe for a big hit song.’ Another commented, ‘The King is always the King.’ Yet another fan expressed particular excitement at Arijit and Ed Sheeran singing together.
Both of the song’s singers, Arijit and Madhubanti, are Bengali. Arijit Singh is from Murshidabad, while Madhubanti Bagchi hails from Balurghat in West Bengal. This popular artiste has also sung on Bangladesh’s Coke Studio Bangla.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘King’ is Shah Rukh and Deepika’s sixth joint project. Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan are also acting in the film; Rani Mukerji, Raghav Juyal, Arshad Warsi and Jaideep Ahlawat play important roles. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 24 December.
Background
According to a 24 January report by The Daily Star Bangla, the production company said ‘King’ would be released simultaneously worldwide on 24 December 2026. On Shah Rukh Khan’s previous birthday, director Siddharth Anand had released a video announcing the film’s title.
According to a 25 January report by bdnews24.com, Shah Rukh Khan announced the release date with a video on Instagram. His daughter Suhana Khan is making her big-screen debut with the film.
