Mymensingh North district BNP has held a rally and procession in protest against the banned Awami League’s evil attempt to destabilise the country through sabotage, terrorism and anarchy and against the opposition’s propaganda.
The programme was observed on Wednesday afternoon at the Uttar Bazar Dhan Mahal in Haluaghat municipal town of Mymensingh.
With North district BNP Convener Professor Enayet Ullah Kalam in the chair and Joint Convener and Mymensingh Development Authority Chairman Motahar Hossain Talukder conducting, BNP Joint Secretary General and Mymensingh Zila Parishad Administrator Syed Emran Saleh Prince was the chief guest at the rally. State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury was the main speaker.
Raising the question of why the Jamaat-NCP alliance has no statement or protest programme against the Awami League’s attempt at sabotage, Emran Saleh Prince said the opposition should answer for this to the people. Suspicion is growing in the public mind as to whether the rakhi bond of the defeated forces of 1971 and 2024 against democracy is being repeated.
He further said there may well be political differences of opinion. But no patriotic political party has any scope to remain silent on the question of the country’s peace, public safety and democratic environment. Those who claim to be the opposition force must also take a clear stand against terrorism, sabotage and anarchy.
State Minister for Information Yasser Khan Chowdhury said the Awami League has fled after committing killings and looting, and they will not return. Addressing the party’s leaders and activists, he said, ‘Do not keep saying Apa, Apa; Apa will not come back.’
He said, ‘Apa once fled after putting you in danger; this time she is instructing you to carry out sabotage to put you in danger again. This time the people will not spare you.’
Calling on the people to stay alert about the Awami League’s sabotage, the state minister said saboteurs will no longer be spared. Anti-state conspiracies will be foiled with the people alongside.
After the rally, a protest procession paraded different roads of Haluaghat municipal town and ended at the Haluaghat Shaheed Smriti Soudha. Alongside senior leaders, leaders of district and upazila BNP and its affiliated bodies took part in the procession.
