Classes for students admitted to class XI in the 2026-2027 academic year begin today, Thursday (24 September). Although classes were earlier scheduled to begin on 23 September, the date was pushed back by a day as all educational institutions of the country were closed that day on the occasion of the holy Fateha-e-Yazdaham.
Applications for the first phase of class XI admission began on 2 September and continued until 8:00pm on 10 September. A total of 9,95,234 students applied in the first phase. Of them, 9,80,815 were selected for admission to colleges.
After the first-phase results were published on the night of 16 September, the selected students got the opportunity to complete admission procedures by going to the colleges in person from 20 to 22 September.
According to the admission policy, 93 percent of the total seats in colleges are open to all on the basis of merit. Students have been selected for these seats by preparing a merit list on the basis of the results of the SSC and equivalent examinations. Of the remaining 7 percent, it has been proposed to reserve 5 percent for the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters and 2 percent for the children of officials and employees of the Ministry of Education and the offices and agencies under it. This quota system applies only to the 2026-27 academic year.
Students who did not get a college in the first phase, did not apply, did not confirm despite being selected or could not complete admission will get the opportunity to apply in the second phase. Online applications for the second phase will run from 27 September until 8:00pm on 28 September. The results will be published at 8:00pm on 1 October. Those selected must confirm between 1 and 3 October. The results of the second migration will be published at 8:00pm on 4 October. After that, final admission procedures will continue at colleges from 5 to 7 October.
Students who applied in the first phase but were not selected for any college will not have to pay the application fee anew in the second phase. They will be able to log in online and change their order of preference or add new colleges. In the second phase, a student can keep a minimum of five and a maximum of 10 colleges in the order of preference.
Students selected in the second phase must also confirm within the stipulated time; if they do not, their selection and application will be cancelled.
From today, regular lessons begin at colleges for students admitted in the first phase. Students admitted in the second phase will be able to join classes later according to the fixed schedule.
