Her studies had stopped after the SSC. Picking up her books again after 15 years, Riti Khatun, a housewife from Nashirpur village in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat, has achieved GPA-5 in the HSC under the Technical Education Board. The result, won through indomitable willpower and relentless effort while handling her household and child, has become a rare example in the area.
Her family, relatives and neighbours are overjoyed at Riti’s success. She sees such a proud result after a long break as a new chapter in her life.
According to local sources, Riti’s studies were interrupted for various family reasons after she passed the SSC. She later became busy with marriage, household responsibilities and raising her daughter. Still, she kept alive the dream of continuing her education.
With her husband’s sincere encouragement and support, Riti returned to the study table after a long break. Her studies went on alongside the daily household chores, followed by the HSC examination. After the results were published, a mood of joy spread through Riti and her family.
According to locals, Riti’s achievement is a great inspiration for women who want to continue higher education while looking after a household and children.
They say age or a long break from education can never stand in the way of fulfilling a dream. With firm willpower, hard perseverance and family support, it is possible to make a fresh start and succeed at any age.
