A mechanic named Jibon Barman, 25, has died in an AC compressor explosion in the capital’s Nayapaltan. The accident took place at a shop named ‘MI Engineering Plus’ in Nayapaltan at around 10:30am on Tuesday (6 October).
The deceased Jibon Barman was the son of Sachin Barman of Bhatpara Gopalpur village in Gaibandha Sadar upazila.
The victim’s brother Anik Barman said Jibon was doing AC repair work at his workplace in the morning. At one stage of the work, he was seriously injured when the AC compressor or cylinder suddenly exploded. Colleagues later rescued him and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. There, after examination, the on-duty doctor declared him dead at around 12 noon.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the death, citing the doctor. He said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. The matter has been reported to the police station concerned.
