The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a drive at the office of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) over allegations of irregularities in the tender for printing free textbooks for the 2027 academic year and the leak of the estimated rate.
An enforcement team from the ACC headquarters conducted the drive at the NCTB office in the capital’s Motijheel on Tuesday, said the agency’s public relations officer Md Tanzir Ahmed.
The ACC said there is an allegation that the estimated rate fixed by the NCTB in the tender for printing free textbooks for the 2027 academic year was leaked beforehand to some unscrupulous contractors. The drive was conducted on the basis of a specific allegation that attempts are later being made, through collusion and secret understanding, to inflate the estimated rate and thereby embezzle a huge amount of state money and cause loss to the state.
During the drive, the ACC team examined the necessary tender-related papers, documents and records.
The ACC further said the documents and primary information and data collected in the drive are being reviewed in detail. On the basis of the review, the commission will take necessary legal action against those involved in the irregularities.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the ACC’s Patuakhali integrated district office conducted a separate drive at the Rangabali union land office in Patuakhali over allegations of demanding extra money for land mutation and harassing service seekers.
