Traffic has resumed on the Mohammadpur-Bosila road after it remained closed for about one and a half hours. The drivers left the road after police gave them assurances regarding their demands. Following the withdrawal of the blockade, vehicles are now moving slowly on the road.
The autorickshaw drivers lifted the blockade from the road at 11am on Sunday (11 October). Earlier, at around 9:30am, they had closed the road and begun the blockade.
Tania Sultana, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of the Traffic-Tejgaon division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said police had spoken to the autorickshaw drivers and discussed the demands they raised. The drivers had spoken about the main road; in reply, police said they must operate only on the roads where they have permission. She said the drivers had been made to understand and, having understood, they lifted the blockade.
