The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) last raised the price of gold in the country’s market last Saturday morning. The price of best-quality gold was fixed at Tk 2,34,621, an increase of Tk 1,691 per bhori. The new rate took effect from 10am that day. Gold will be sold at that fixed price today, Friday, as well.
Bajus said the new price was fixed considering the overall situation as the price of acid-refined gold, or pure gold, had risen.
According to the new rate, the price of hallmarked 22-carat gold is Tk 2,34,621 per bhori (11.664 grams). The price is Tk 2,24,065 per bhori of 21-carat gold, Tk 1,92,397 per bhori of 18-carat gold and Tk 1,57,172 per bhori of traditional-method gold.
Before this, Bajus last adjusted the price on 12 September. That day, the price of best-quality gold was raised by Tk 1,050 per bhori to Tk 2,32,930. At that time, the price was fixed at Tk 2,22,490 per bhori of 21-carat gold, Tk 1,91,056 per bhori of 18-carat gold and Tk 1,56,064 per bhori of traditional-method gold.
In a notice, Bajus said making charges will be added separately according to the design of the jewellery. However, as VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, VAT cannot be charged separately from the buyer.
