Bodies of husband, wife and infant daughter recovered from house in Manikganj

Police have recovered the bodies of three members of the same family from inside a house in Manikganj Sadar upazila. It has been learnt that expatriate Ikram Hossain killed his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and then took his own life by hanging himself from a fan.
The tragic incident took place at Jannakandi village in Krishnapur union of Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Police and local sources said Ikram Hossain first killed his wife. Then their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter was killed. Later he took his own life by hanging himself from the fan in his own room. On receiving the news, police went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the three.
Relatives said Ikram Hossain returned home from abroad some days ago. It could not be known whether he had any dispute with family members.
Confirming the incident, Manikganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monir Hossain said, ‘On receiving the news, we have sent police to the spot.’
Police said the incident is being investigated. Why Ikram Hossain took his own life after killing his wife and child can be confirmed only after the investigation is completed. The process of sending the bodies to Manikganj Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination is under way.
