Even in the twilight of his career, Kevin De Bruyne continues to show flashes of his brilliance. Although he is past 35, the Belgian star once again proved the magic of his feet against Turkey. Belgium beat Turkey 3-0 at home thanks to his brace and a goal from Romelu Lukaku.
The hosts kept control of the match in their own hands from the start at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium. De Bruyne put Belgium ahead in just 10 minutes. After a fine combination with a teammate, he entered the box from the right and sent the ball into the Turkish net with a trademark low shot. With this goal, the Belgian star reached the milestone of 200 goals for club and country combined.
De Bruyne did not stop after the break either. In the 60th minute of the match he scored his second goal with a superb curling shot from outside the box, taking his total career goals to 201.
Lukaku ended all of Turkey’s hopes of getting back into the match. In the 76th minute, the experienced striker coolly sent the ball into the net from inside the box to complete his 94th goal in his international career.
As there were no more goals in the end, Belgium left the field with a 3-0 win. With De Bruyne’s brace as well as Lukaku’s milestone-reaching goal, Belgian football had a wonderful night.
