The price of 22-carat gold has now risen by Tk 3,324 per bhori to Tk 224,182. This is how the price of gold has risen once again in the local market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new price in a notice at noon today (Wednesday).
According to BAJUS, the new price will take effect from 1:45pm today.
At the new rate, 22-carat gold will cost Tk 224,182 per bhori (11.664 grams) including VAT in the local market. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 214,093 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 183,883 and traditional-method gold at Tk 150,232 per bhori.
BAJUS said making charges will be added according to the design of the jewellery. VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, so VAT cannot be charged separately from buyers. Excluding making charges and stones, 12 percent must be deducted when exchanging jewellery and 18 percent when purchasing it back; VAT cannot be deducted separately in an exchange or purchase. This price will apply at all jewellery establishments until further decision.
Before this, on Monday (2 November), BAJUS had raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,266 to Tk 220,858 per bhori.
Although gold prices have risen, silver prices remain unchanged. Including VAT, 22-carat silver now costs Tk 3,499 per bhori, 21-carat Tk 3,383, 18-carat Tk 2,916 and traditional-method silver Tk 2,216 per bhori.
