Amir Jangoo has been called up to the West Indies T20 squad. The Caribbean side have arrived in Lucknow to play a five-match T20 series against India, and Jangoo is with the team.
The main reason for including Jangoo, who performed superbly in the ODI series, in the T20 squad is Jewel Andrew’s injury. Cricket West Indies said Jewel sustained a finger injury while playing the third ODI. As he has not yet fully recovered from that injury, Jangoo has been included in the squad as cover. Both are wicketkeeper-batters. The medical team is still keeping Jewel’s injury under observation.
Amir Jangoo struck a magnificent century in the second ODI. He played a superb innings of 114 runs off just 77 balls at a strike rate of nearly 150. He made fifties in the other two matches. With 239 runs in 3 matches, he is the third-highest run-scorer of the series. Above him are India captain Shubman Gill and West Indies captain Shai Hope.
India beat West Indies 2-1 in the ODI series. Although the hosts won the first two matches, the visitors won the last match.
The first match of the five-match India-West Indies T20 series gets under way in Lucknow on 6 October. The game will start at 7:30pm Bangladesh time.
