Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, acting secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was chief guest at the launch of the ‘Rezauddin Stalin issue’ of literary magazine ‘Sareng’ at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday afternoon. In his speech, he said one has to endure a great deal in politics, so a person without tolerance or patience can never be a good politician.
Prof Dr Muhammad Asaduzzaman of the Department of Linguistics at Dhaka University presided over the event. Special guests included Jatiya Press Club president poet Hasan Hafiz, Jatiya Kabita Parishad president Mohan Raihan, Muktochinta Bangladesh convener Abul Kashem Haider, and poet and journalist Shahin Chowdhury.
Recalling the political adversity of the past 17 years, Rizvi said that at the time many close relatives and friends were afraid even to invite them to family occasions for fear of cases and imprisonment. But even in those hard times, poet Rezauddin Stalin stood by them with courage.
Noting that cultural activities in the country have increased somewhat under the current government, Rizvi said the Shilpakala Academy has a role in this. He remarked that Rezauddin Stalin, through his skill and competence, has shown how active and vibrant an institution can become when a cultural personality is at its helm.
