Seven students of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) are getting the ‘Prime Minister Gold Medal’ in recognition of their achievement in higher education. These seven students of the university have found a place in the final list published for the 2019 and 2020 academic years. However, there is no name of any NSTU student in the list for the 2021 academic year.
Earlier, on 5 October, the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) published a list of a total of 469 meritorious students of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 academic years for the Prime Minister Gold Medal. Among them are three NSTU students of the 2019 academic year and four of the 2020 academic year.
According to the list published by the UGC, those nominated for the gold medal in the 2019 academic year are Shuvod Babu Sen Amit of the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunication Engineering, Nazmul Hasan of the Department of Economics and Belayet Hossain of the Department of Agriculture.
On the other hand, the four students nominated in the 2020 academic year are Shatabdi Roy Moon of the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunication Engineering, Razia Sultana of the Department of Economics, Mosarra Chowdhury of the Department of Business Administration and Md Ishtiaque Hossain Joy of the Department of Agriculture.
This achievement of the seven students has created an atmosphere of joy among the teachers and students of the university. Those concerned with the university think this success will provide inspiration to do even better in higher education, research and career in future.
It may be mentioned that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has been giving the ‘Prime Minister Gold Medal’ to outstanding graduates since 2005 to further encourage the meritorious students of the country’s universities in education and research.
