‘Let us adorn the country with tree plantation, Bangladesh before all’ – with this slogan, a tree plantation campaign and tree fair have been inaugurated in Sunamganj. The programme was organised at the initiative of Sunamganj Range, Sylhet Forest Division and the Sunamganj district administration.
On the occasion of the tree plantation campaign, a colourful rally was brought out from the Shilpakala Academy auditorium at 10:30am today, Sunday, and paraded the main roads of the town. Later the guests inaugurated the tree fair at the Government Jubilee High School ground.

Present at the event, held with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Minhazur Rahman in the chair, were Divisional Forest Officer Mohammad Abdur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Sujan Sarkar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Matiur Rahman Khan, Assistant Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Sunamganj, Masum Billah, Sadar upazila land officer Aditya Pal, Assistant Commissioner Dipanwita Devi, district and divisional Assistant Conservator of Forests Md Joynal Abedin, district Range Officer Riaz Uddin and Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Mohaiminul Haque. Besides, environmental activists, teachers and students were also present.
It may be mentioned that this tree fair will continue for a week. At the end of the programme, tree saplings were distributed among students.
