Twenty-five meritorious students of the University of Chittagong (CU) have been nominated for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal 2019, 2020 and 2021.
This information was given today in a notice signed by Md Omar Faruque, director (additional charge) of the Research Grants and Award Division of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Among the students of the University of Chittagong, nine have been nominated for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal 2019 and eight each for 2020 and 2022.
In this regard, CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Al-Forkan said, ‘Twenty-five of our students have been nominated for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal. This is a matter of great joy and pride for us. This achievement is not only theirs personally, but also that of their families, their departments and the entire university. They will play an important role in the welfare of the country and society in the future – that is our expectation of them.’
It may be mentioned that the UGC introduced the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal in 2005 during the BNP government. The medal is awarded to the best students or first-place holders who achieve the highest marks or CGPA in different faculties at the graduate (honours) or postgraduate level of various universities or educational institutions in the country. This time, a total of 469 students from across the country have been nominated for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal 2019, 2020 and 2021.
