The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has said no permission will be given to set up any new private clinic or diagnostic centre within one kilometre of a government hospital.
Besides, doctors of government hospitals will not be able to practise at any private hospital or clinic located within one kilometre of a government hospital.
The DGHS issued an office order in this regard today. It was signed by Dr Md Nurul Islam, director of the directorate’s hospitals and clinics wing.
The office order said the directive has been issued in light of the decision taken at serial number 3 of the minutes of the meeting on improving the quality of healthcare held on 17 August with the prime minister in the chair.
The directive asked that necessary steps be taken to implement the decision and that the DGHS be informed in writing immediately about the steps taken.
For this, all divisional directors, civil surgeons and upazila health and family planning officers concerned have been instructed to take necessary measures.
