BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has expressed the hope that the newly formed Road Transport Workers’ Federation committee will work to control unlawful activities and extortion on the roads. He said the mafia practices surrounding the transport sector would come to an end through this committee.
He said this while talking to journalists on Thursday morning after placing wreaths at the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia along with members of the new committee led by BNP leader Nazim Uddin.
Rizvi said the transport sector would be overhauled through new ideas. The long-standing deadlock would be brought to an end, the sector would be brought within the law and a new example would be set in passenger service. He said 17 years of anarchy would stop if politicians took charge to prevent political disorder.
