Miscreants have exploded two crude bombs inside and outside the gate of Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU). Md Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed the matter.
He said that at around 12:30am in the early hours after Wednesday (7 October), miscreants who came on a motorcycle hurled two crude bombs one after another from the road in front of the university gate and left. One hit a tree outside the gate and exploded, while the other exploded inside the university. The incident spread panic among general students.
Durjoy Shuvo, president of the university unit of Chhatra Dal, said a freshers’ reception organised by the university administration is scheduled to be held on Thursday (8 October) morning, where the members of parliament of Gopalganj’s three constituencies are supposed to be present as guests. A vested criminal quarter carried out such heinous terrorist activities in a planned manner just before this programme with the aim of creating panic on the campus. The Chhatra Dal leader demanded that the crude bomb attackers be identified quickly and brought to book.
OC Aminul Islam said drives are being conducted to identify the terrorists and bring them to book quickly.
