At a glance
Positions in the ICC player rankings are determined on a scale of 0 to 1000 points; points rise when recent performances surpass past records and fall when they do not. Each performance is assessed by an automatic algorithm that takes match conditions into account and involves no human or subjective judgement – this explanation is given on the ICC’s own website.
