The college authorities have called upon former students (NDC Alumni) to touch the memories of their old classrooms and premises for the last time before the heritage main ‘Harrington Building’ of Notre Dame College is demolished. The announcement has given rise to deep emotion among the alumni.
College Principal Father Hemanto Pius Rozario made the call in a message to former students on Tuesday.
He said the old main building of the college will be demolished and a new building will be constructed there. The construction of an 8-storey building at that site has been proposed, which is now awaiting final approval.
In the message, the principal recalled that countless former students studied in the classrooms of this historic building; their innumerable priceless memories are stored in its every corner. The college authorities have cordially invited the alumni to bring those memories to life once more and to capture the token of love in frames by taking photographs of the campus.
According to the announced plan, the work of demolishing the building is scheduled to begin from 1 October. The statement said Notre Dame College is waiting with deep eagerness to welcome former students to the premises again, with respect for heritage and memories.
