BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the defeated forces are engaged in a conspiracy to tarnish the government’s image by carrying out sabotage during Durga Puja. He also alleged that a quarter within the country is backing them in this.
He made the allegations at a meeting held at the Press Club on Monday in memory of late BNP leader Hannan Shah. Rizvi said leaders and activists must be advised to stay alert on the occasion of the puja. The BNP does not want to bring back the politics of plunder, he said, adding that the government is working to give people relief despite the crisis.
He said they are not doing politics for money. MPs must keep an eye on the welfare of the people. No one should come into politics with the aim of becoming a fertiliser dealer or doing contracting business, he said.
According to Rizvi, BNP leaders and activists are not behaving as people did during the fascist era. The BNP will not repeat the reign of plunder the fascists had established by pushing the entire country into anarchy; the BNP has no such commitment, he said. The party wants to establish peace, stability and the rule of law, he added.
