A new book titled ‘Kheladhula’ (Sports) is being added to the class four curriculum from the next academic year. Giving this information, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque said the government wants sports, alongside studies, to become an integral part of education and the new generation to grow up healthy, drug-free and disciplined; the initiative has been taken with that aim.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a reception at Mirpur Bangla School and College in the capital on Friday afternoon. Meritorious students from various educational institutions in the Dhaka-16 constituency who obtained GPA-5 in the SSC and HSC examinations were accorded a reception there.
Addressing the students, the state minister said, ‘The goal of life has to be set right now. There is no alternative to studying to achieve that goal. But sports are equally important in building a healthy body and a healthy nation. In the new book, students will be able to learn about the benefits of sports, nutrition and the food needed to stay healthy.’
In his speech, Aminul Haque also highlighted the initiatives being taken to develop educational institutions and arrange housing for teachers. He said DO letters have already been issued for the development of educational institutions in Pallabi and Rupnagar. And discussions will be held with the education minister on arranging separate housing for teachers, and a proposal will go to the prime minister if necessary.
The state minister called on everyone to shun political vengeance and build a united and humane Bangladesh. He said no one wants the history of the past 17 years to return. To ensure a healthy environment for students, teachers, guardians, the government and everyone in society must play a responsible role.
Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Khoshnobish, principal of Mirpur Bangla School and College, presided over the event. Mainul Haque Moin, president of the Dhaka-16 constituency educational institutions council, Hafizur Rahman Sarkar, president of MDC Model School and College, and people concerned from various educational institutions were present.
