An autorickshaw driver named Rajan, 25, has been stabbed to death with a sharp knife by muggers snatching his autorickshaw in Rupganj, Narayanganj. The incident took place on Monday night on the road beside Rupshi Bagbari Bridge. Shortly afterwards, police and locals chased down and detained two muggers, Faisal, 24, and Jamal Mia, 30, and recovered a bloodstained knife and the snatched autorickshaw from them. A police member was injured when he was hit by the muggers’ vehicle while trying to catch them.

Locals later rescued him and took him to US-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Rajan dead.

The muggers then rammed the police patrol vehicle hard, and a police member was thrown off and injured. Chased by police and locals, Faisal and Jamal were then caught with the autorickshaw in front of a garbage heap beside Tarabo Bishwa Road. A bloodstained knife was also recovered from them.
