The rear six coaches of the Chattogram-bound intercity Paharika Express (720) got detached after a hook snapped at Lawachara National Park in Kamalganj of Moulvibazar. Later the train went on to Sreemangal Railway Station with the engine and the front six coaches. With this, rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was suspended.
The incident took place in the Lawachara National Park area at around 1:20pm on Friday (2 October). It was not possible to recover the six coaches lying inside the forest until 5pm.
Confirming the matter, Sreemangal Railway Station master Shakhawat Hussain said an alternative engine has been sent to recover the six coaches lying in the Lawachara forest and it is hoped that rail communication will become normal within a short time.
