The first picture of actor Tiger Shroff after the shooting targeting his car has finally emerged. In the picture the actor has bandages on his chest and left arm, with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde beside him. The actor was seated on the sofa at his own home at the time. The picture, published on Monday (19 October), has stirred interest among fans about his physical condition.

According to a report in the Indian news outlet Hindustan Times, Eknath Shinde went to Tiger’s home to see him on Sunday (18 October) night. The actor was slightly injured in the shooting. He was therefore released from hospital after primary treatment. His driver, however, was shot in the left arm. Hospital sources said he may be operated on if necessary.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said unidentified gunmen fired at Tiger Shroff’s car near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening as he was returning from playing a football match. Police had initially said the actor was safe and had not been shot. Later, various reports said he was slightly injured by gunpowder and shards of glass.

Eknath Shinde, meanwhile, has described the incident as deeply worrying. After meeting Tiger he said he had spoken to Mumbai’s police commissioner about the matter. Several police teams are working to identify and arrest the attackers. He also said ensuring the safety of the city’s citizens is the government’s priority. Shinde warned that any attempt to spread panic in Mumbai would not be accepted in any way.

On the other hand, a post that has spread on social media claims that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has admitted responsibility for the attack. The post is reported to have threatened that others in the film world would also be targeted unless they stopped working with Salman Khan. The authenticity of the post, however, has not been confirmed.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has expressed concern at the series of attacks targeting Bollywood stars. The organisation has raised questions about the film world’s security after the shooting targeting actor Tiger Shroff’s car. It contends that these incidents are not isolated; rather, such attacks are being carried out with the aim of extorting money by creating fear among figures of the film world.

The organisation said shooting outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence had taken place earlier as well. Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his own home and stabbed. Shots were also fired outside film-maker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu home. AICWA also noted that comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe has been attacked more than once.

Highlighting the sequence of these incidents, the organisation said attempts are under way to create an atmosphere of panic by targeting well-known figures of the film world. The criminals’ aim is to frighten the stars and extort money from them, the organisation alleges.

AICWA has further alleged that despite one attack after another, questions remain about the effective role of the government and the police in curbing the criminals. The organisation expressed concern that although claims of responsibility for several earlier incidents being publicly admitted have come up, the rackets concerned are still active.

In the organisation’s words, the situation will not improve by assurances or statements alone. Effective steps are essential to ensure the safety of Bollywood’s artistes, crew members and others concerned.

Background

According to a bdnews24.com report of 19 October 2026, the attackers came on a motorcycle and fired, and abandoned the motorcycle used in the getaway near Andheri railway station; police are pursuing inquiries through the motorcycle’s registration, chassis and engine numbers.

The same report said police supplied NDTV with a picture of two young men, one of whom was wearing a white shirt and the other a white shirt with a black cap bearing the Puma logo.

The numbers

According to that bdnews24 report, five rounds were fired at the car; one eyewitness account, however, mentioned four rounds.

The same report notes that Tiger Shroff’s driver and an auto-rickshaw driver who was nearby were injured in the shooting, and that 15 special teams were formed for the investigation.
