Abhishek Sharma has played an explosive innings of 61 runs against Pakistan in the final of the Asian Games. The Indian star hit 7 sixes in that innings, and with that set a new record.
The second six he hit against Pakistan in the Asian Games cricket final on Saturday was Abhishek’s 400th six in recognised T20s. In terms of balls, he reached this milestone as the second fastest batsman. Abhishek faced 3,513 balls to hit 400 sixes, whereas ‘Universe Boss’ Gayle had taken 3,557 balls. On top of everyone is Andre Russell, who hit 400 sixes after facing just 3,027 balls.
After yesterday’s match on Saturday, Abhishek’s number of sixes this year stands at 104. He had hit a hundred sixes in a year in 2025 as well; no other Indian cricketer has this record.
Abhishek is now in second place in the record for hitting a hundred sixes in a year off the fewest balls. He achieved the feat in 651 balls. Above him is Andre Russell, who set the record in 589 balls. Dewald Brevis is third, having achieved the same feat in 653 balls.
In addition, Abhishek Sharma has joined Yuvraj Singh in the feat of hitting the most individual sixes in an innings in an India-Pakistan match. Yuvraj had hit 7 sixes in 2012; this time Abhishek too hit the same number of sixes.
In the match of Abhishek’s majestic innings, India scored 211 runs batting first. Besides the star, Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten 51 off 22 balls. In the chase, Pakistan could not make more than 192 runs despite Hasan Nawaz’s innings of 96. India won the gold medal with a 19-run victory.
