BNP Acting Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said the recent arson and bomb attacks on buses and CNG-run auto-rickshaws are part of a deep conspiracy.
He said those who are setting fires and hurling bombs are enemies of Bangladesh’s independence and democracy. Everyone must remain alert and prepared. The streets are not anyone’s leased property.
Rizvi said this at a protest rally in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the capital on Thursday. Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal organised a large protest procession from the Central Shaheed Minar to Shahbagh and a rally in protest against the conspiracy to destabilise the country through planned terrorism.
Rizvi said the spontaneous presence of young people at the Chhatra Dal rally proves that a large section of the young generation is standing firmly on the side of the nationalist forces. Terming the arson incidents a conspiracy, he referred to a media report.
According to that report, the arrested criminals have admitted that they received instructions and money through phone calls from a neighbouring country to set off bomb explosions, take photographs of those incidents and send them as proof. Rizvi said this planned terrorism is being conducted from a phone number in a neighbouring country, which brings the depth of the conspiracy to the fore.
He further said the government led by Tarique Rahman always gives priority to the national interest and public welfare.
At the rally, Water Resources Minister Md Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee said the people saw the corruption and misrule of the fascist government over the past 17 years. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is taking the country’s development forward on the one hand and actively confronting conspirators on the streets on the other.
BNP Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul said that while the government is working to rebuild the economy and build a new Bangladesh, a vested quarter linked to the ousted fascist government is trying to obstruct national development through arson and intimidation.
Leaders and activists of various units of the organisation took part in the rally, which was presided over by Chhatra Dal president Rakibul Islam Rakib.
