With a combination of engineering knowledge, creativity and practical skills, the day-long ‘Construct Carnival 2.0’ was held at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). The RUET campus turned festive throughout the day centring this carnival, organised on 3 October at the initiative of the university’s Department of Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM).
The formal activities of Construct Carnival 2.0 began with a colourful rally. With the participation of teachers and students of the BECM department, contestants and those concerned, the rally went round the campus. After that, the carnival programme proceeded through various competitions, exhibitions and other activities throughout the day.
The main attraction of this year’s Construct Carnival was five competitions organised centring various practical fields of engineering and construction management. These are – CAD Expert, Management Maestro, Poster Presentation, Mechamind and Truss Combat. In each competition, an opportunity was created to test and develop students’ technical knowledge, creative thinking power, problem-solving ability, management skills and skills in real engineering application.
According to the organisers, merely acquiring textbook knowledge is not enough for an engineering student; the ability to apply that knowledge in real situations is also important. The competitions of Construct Carnival give students the opportunity to gain that practical experience. At the same time, this event also plays a role in increasing skills in facing various challenges, working as a team, time management and solving problems in creative ways.
