Applications have opened for the Danish government scholarship for the 2027 academic year. It is for international students; only students from countries outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) can apply.
This master’s-level scholarship is offered by the University of Southern Denmark with the support of Denmark’s Ministry of Higher Education and Science. Scholarship holders will have their tuition fees waived and will also get a monthly stipend to cover living costs.
The university awards the scholarship twice a year — once for the September semester and once for the February semester. No tuition fee will be charged until the master’s degree is completed, and a monthly stipend will be paid at a fixed rate. Recipients will be selected from students of various countries on the basis of eligibility and merit.
Founded in 1998, the university operates across southern Denmark and the Zealand area. According to the institution, around 29,675 students study there.
Benefits
This is not a fully funded scholarship. It provides a full tuition fee waiver and a monthly stipend of 3,000 Danish kroner (DKK); this amount is before tax.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
1. Citizenship must be of a country outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland.
2. The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree.
3. They must meet the admission requirements for one of the university’s full-time degree programmes.
4. They must be eligible for a student residence permit for a set term to study in Denmark.
Selection process
Recipients will be chosen from among the applicants who come out ahead after their eligibility and merit are assessed. To complete the process on time, all documents and information must be submitted accurately when applying.
How to apply
The announcement says there is no need to apply separately for the scholarship. Applicants must first apply for admission to any one master’s programme at the University of Southern Denmark; eligible applicants will then automatically be considered for the scholarship. Before applying, it is important to learn the details of the university’s master’s programmes, admission requirements and the scholarship. Application link: surl.li/xopiei

At a glance
The University of Southern Denmark’s website says the Danish Government Scholarship is only for full-degree master’s students; the university offers no scholarships at bachelor’s level. The application deadline for September admission to master’s programmes is 1 February, and for February admission 1 September.
The figures differ between sources: the university’s website states the monthly stipend as 6,090 Danish kroner before tax, which is more than the 3,000 kroner in the original report. It is best to check the latest amount on the university’s site before applying.
