More than a hundred Pakistani firms are showcasing the country’s textiles, food and beverages, cosmetics, herbal and wellness products, handicrafts and fashion items in the capital.
The fourth ‘Made in Pakistan’ product exhibition began on Tuesday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital and will continue until 26 September. The exhibition will remain open to visitors from 11am to 10pm every day.
Mohammad Hasan Arif, vice-chairman and chief executive officer of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), and Imran Haider, high commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, inaugurated the exhibition. This information was given in a press release.
Business representatives from various sectors, journalists, local visitors and Pakistani expatriates living in Bangladesh were present at the inaugural ceremony.
The Pakistan high commissioner said bilateral trade and economic relations with Bangladesh are progressing steadily.
He said the opening of several Pakistani fashion outlets in Bangladesh, the increase in trade in essential goods and the completion of the technical process for exporting pineapples from Bangladesh to Pakistan are examples of recent progress in the two countries’ commercial relations.
He also mentioned that businesspeople of the two countries can submit policy proposals to the Pakistan High Commission and the EPB in order to remove trade barriers and build long-term business partnerships.
EPB Vice-Chairman Mohammad Hasan Arif congratulated the organisers on holding the exhibition. He stressed increasing the exchange of business representatives and exhibitors to boost contact between the businesspeople of the two countries.
He said Bangladeshi exhibitors would take part in various upcoming exhibitions in Pakistan. He also assured necessary cooperation on behalf of the EPB in organising joint seminars and conferences.
Besides, Hasan Arif invited Pakistani representatives to take part in the ‘Global Sourcing Expo’ to be held in Bangladesh and the Dhaka International Trade Fair of 2027.
He called on businesspeople to seize various business opportunities, including joint ventures, by making use of the mutual complementarity of the two countries’ economies.
At this time, the EPB vice-chairman and the Pakistan high commissioner praised the organisers for holding the exhibition.
