The inaugural ceremony of the Inter-Hall Football Competition 2026 of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Hall of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) has been held.
HSTU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Enamullah was the chief guest and Registrar Prof Dr Md Abu Hasan was the special guest at the ceremony, held at the Shaheed Abrar Fahad Hall playground at 5:00pm on Thursday.
In his speech as the chief guest, the vice-chancellor said such sporting events play an important role in students’ physical and mental development alongside their talent and intellect. Sport is not merely a means of physical exercise; it builds discipline, leadership, mutual cooperation, tolerance and team spirit. There will always be victory and defeat in a competition, but his expectation is that, alongside the rivalry, everyone will maintain a sporting attitude, mutual respect and amity. He also remarked that being more involved in sports, culture and other co-curricular activities alongside studies will be useful in career development. Greeting all the participating teams and players, he expressed the hope that the competition will be completed in a joyful and festive atmosphere and that through it the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among students will be further strengthened.
With Prof Dr Md Adnan Al Bachchu, hall super of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Hall, in the chair, those present included, among others, IRT Director Prof Dr Maruf Ahmed, Shaheed Nur Hossain Hall hall super Prof Dr Md Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, assistant hall super Prof Dr Md Fakhruzzaman and other teachers, officers and employees. Also present were HSTU Chhatra Dal President Md Ehsanul Kabir Arnob and General Secretary Masud Rana, along with other general students.
It may be mentioned that eight teams are taking part in this inter-hall football tournament.
