Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will play for the Melbourne Renegades in the next edition of Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).
He has already sought a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play in the 16th edition of the BBL.
BCB President Tamim Iqbal confirmed the matter to the media today on the sidelines of the auction for the domestic ‘D-Three’ tournament.
Tamim said that besides Mustafizur, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has also sought an NOC for the next edition of the BBL.
The BCB president showed a positive attitude towards allowing the two cricketers to play in the Australian franchise league.
Rishad played for the Hobart Hurricanes last season. He is staying with Hobart for the upcoming edition as well.
Rishad had a great time with the ball for Hobart last season. He was the team’s leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets in 12 matches and was named Hobart’s ‘Player of the Year’ at the end of the season.
The new Big Bash season will begin on 12 December.

According to a 3 January report by All India Radio’s NewsOnAir, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur from their squad ahead of the 2026 edition of the IPL.
