The price of gold has risen again in the domestic market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has raised the price of the best quality, that is 22-carat, gold by Tk 1,691 per bhori (11.664 grams). As a result, the price of one bhori of good quality gold, including VAT, now stands at Tk 2,34,621.
Bajus said the new price came into effect from 10:00am on Saturday (19 September).
The decision to raise the price was taken at a meeting of the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. The matter was later announced in a notice signed by the committee’s Chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
According to the new price, per bhori (11.664 grams) of hallmarked 22-carat gold will sell at Tk 2,34,621, 21-carat at Tk 2,24,065, 18-carat at Tk 1,92,397 and gold of the traditional method at Tk 1,57,172.
The notice further said making charges will apply separately according to the design of the ornament. However, as VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, VAT cannot be charged separately from customers.
