Dr Zahed Ur Rahman, adviser to the prime minister on information and broadcasting, has called on the media to highlight, in the public interest, any instance where LPG is not available at the fixed price. He said the government will take necessary action if such complaints are received.
He made the remarks at a press conference organised at the Secretariat on Tuesday on the progress of various government activities. Zahed Ur Rahman said there is considerable volatility in fuel prices in the international market. Even amid this, the government is trying to adjust the price of LPG. However, complaints have come in that LPG is not available at the adjusted price in some places.
He said all deputy commissioners have already been instructed to keep the supply of LPG normal in the open market and to ensure the sale of LPG and autogas at the price fixed by the commission.
Noting that the power, energy and mineral resources minister has given necessary instructions in this regard at an online meeting with the deputy commissioners, he said monitoring is also going on in various districts through mobile courts of the Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection and the administration.
He said many people had been fined earlier. Now this activity has been further strengthened.
The prime minister’s adviser on information and broadcasting said the government’s discussions with traders are also continuing to keep the LPG market situation normal.
He said the energy minister has held multiple meetings with LPG-related business leaders and reviewed the situation. At these meetings, the traders assured the minister of cooperation in keeping the market normal. The government hopes that the current crisis in the market over LPG will ease through this.
