The Inter-Department Football Competition 2026 has begun at Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU) with the aim of keeping students away from drugs and encouraging them to build healthy lives through sport.
Chief guest Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sohel Hasan inaugurated the competition at the university’s central playground at 9:30am on Sunday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the vice-chancellor said they want the university always to be festive, with sport as one of the main ways of celebrating. But everyone must be careful that the joy of the festivities is not dimmed in any way. Every player must show sportsmanlike behaviour and play by the rules, because an inter-university competition is coming up, and preparation for it has to be made through this event.
He also said that a fair play award will be given in the competition to avoid untoward incidents.
