Kazi Jaber, 34, an expatriate living in Italy, has been missing for 34 hours in Savar, Dhaka. His father filed a general diary (GD) at Savar Model Police Station on Thursday evening over the disappearance.
Kazi Jaber is the son of Bachchu Kazi of the Sabujbagh area of Savar municipality.
Bachchu Kazi said the family lives in Italy and that Kazi Jaber also lives there with his wife and two children. Jaber came to Bangladesh with his family on 5 October.
He said, ‘Jaber left home on a motorcycle at about 11am on Wednesday. There has been no trace of him since. At about 11pm that day my son sent just one message to my mobile phone on imo. It said, “I am fine, I will come home in the morning”. He has not been in touch since. He has not returned home and his mobile phone is switched off.’
Jaber’s father said, ‘Ours is a happy family. We have no dispute with anyone. I have contacted my son’s friends. They too said Jaber had not been in touch with any of them. We are spending our time worrying about whether he is in some danger.’
Savar Police Station officer-in-charge Saiful Alam said a general diary has been filed over the disappearance of the Italy-based expatriate and that efforts are under way to trace him.
