Actress Tanjin Tisha is going through a rough patch. Ever since she signed on for the film ‘Soldier’ opposite Shakib Khan last year, her name has been caught up in one controversy after another. She has made headlines over allegations of assaulting a co-artiste on the shooting set and of cheating several fashion houses over saris, and has also had to go to court. Now a fresh case has been filed against her over allegations that she threatened to kill the plaintiff in the sari case. Meanwhile, Soldier, the first commercial film she has acted in, has also fallen into uncertainty.
The case was filed against Tanjin Tisha on Monday over allegations that she threatened fashion designer Sanaya Chowdhury. In the earlier case, after the plaintiff filed a no-confidence petition against the police investigation report, the CID was given responsibility for further investigation. Sanaya Chowdhury filed the new case soon after. She claims Tisha threatened to kill her to make her withdraw the case. Tisha has been asked to appear in court in this case on 23 November.
That same afternoon, an audio recording of Tisha and Sanaya spread on social media, in which the two can be heard talking about saris. At one point, Tisha’s voice can be heard saying, ‘If I come after you, you will not survive.’ Criticism began soon after the audio spread.
Facing ridicule online, Tanjin Tisha did not stay silent. At around 3am on Monday night she posted a long Facebook status. In it, she claimed that all this was being done in a planned way to destroy her career and achievements. She also asked whether anyone can be declared guilty on the basis of allegations alone, or whether truth and falsehood should be judged in court. According to Tisha, she has answers to many questions and evidence regarding the incident. But she also asked who would present that truth and evidence to the public — the court, or responsible journalism.
On the other hand, there has been speculation for nearly a month over whether Soldier will be released at all. Although the director took the artistes’ schedules several times over the past year, he could not finish the shoot, creating uncertainty over the film. Unpaid fees owed to artistes and crew have also come to light. It has been alleged that director Sakib Fahad bought a flat with the money instead of finishing the film. More than Tk 1 lakh owed to Chef Bangla Catering of Dhanmondi, which supplied food for the shoot, has also not been paid.
Attempts were made several times to contact the director of Soldier about these matters, but he did not answer calls. Text messages also went unanswered.
Tanjin Tisha had given up work in Tollywood for this film and had also cut back on drama work. Yet the future of that very film is now in the dark. All in all, the actress is in considerable trouble.
Background
Another case against Tisha over a sari had also been reported earlier. According to a Prothom Alo report, Aminul Islam, administrator of the online fashion page ‘Aponia’, filed a case in court in November 2025 on charges of fraud and breach of trust; the allegation was that Tisha, after promising to promote a sari worth Tk 28,800 and to pay its price, later cut off contact.
The same report said that on 12 July 2026, a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court issued a summons in that case. Tisha said at the time that she would deal with the whole matter legally.
