The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has approved a proposal to spend Tk 497,33,21,362 on the construction of a 1,200-bed hospital and clinical faculty building under Rajshahi Medical University. The proposal was approved at a meeting of the committee held at the Secretariat yesterday, Wednesday, with Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
According to the approved proposal, Tk 497,33,21,362 will be spent on the civil works of package WD-1 under the ‘Establishment of Rajshahi Medical University’ project. The implementing agency of the work, which is being carried out with government financing, is Rajshahi Medical University and the proposer is the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division.
Under the project, a 1,200-bed, 11-storey building will be constructed, which will have one basement floor. This includes construction of the hospital and clinical faculties building as well as civil, water supply and sewerage, and internal electrification works. In addition, permanent internal facilities of the building will also be constructed.
The project’s tenure runs from 1 July 2022 to 31 December 2029. When tenders were invited for the civil works under the local open tendering method, four bids were submitted. Of these, two bids were considered technically responsive. After completion of all tender procedures, it has been decided, on the basis of the recommendation of the technical evaluation committee, to procure the work at the specified amount from the lowest responsive bidder, Wahid Construction Limited, Dhaka.
