Emergency repair work will be carried out on the expansion joint of the Demra bridge, so tailbacks may build up around the bridge. For this reason, highway police have asked commuters to take alternative roads from 6am tomorrow (Tuesday, 27 October) to 12 midnight on Wednesday (28 October).
Highway police said the Demra bridge is located at the first kilometre of the Tarabo-Demra road (R-201) beside the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. The Narayanganj Road Division will repair its expansion joint. Traffic pressure may increase on the bridge and in surrounding areas during the scheduled work hours.
Abdur Rahim, executive engineer of the Narayanganj Roads and Highways Division, confirmed the matter to highway police. Highway police advise commuters to set out with enough time in hand and to use alternative routes if possible.
