The level of air pollution in various cities of the world keeps rising day by day. In this situation, Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka is in third position today on the list of cities with the most polluted air in the world. The city’s air quality score is 173. This air quality is considered ‘unhealthy’ for residents.
This information was obtained on Wednesday (7 October) from the Air Quality Index of IQAir, a Switzerland-based air quality monitoring organisation.
According to IQAir’s index, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur is at the top of the list of the world’s polluted cities on the day. The city’s air quality score is 210, which is considered ‘very unhealthy’ for residents.
Singapore is second on the list with a score of 176, Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka is third, India’s Delhi is fourth with a score of 165 and Pakistan’s Lahore is fifth with a score of 164.
According to IQAir’s standards, air quality is considered ‘good’ if the score is between zero and 50. If it is 51 to 100, it is ‘moderate or tolerable’. A score of 101 to 150 is considered ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’ and a score from 151 to 200 is considered ‘unhealthy’.
Besides, a score of 201 to 300 is considered ‘very unhealthy’ and more than 301 is considered ‘hazardous’.
