Narsingdi’s Abdul Kadir Molla City College has once again achieved remarkable results in the Higher Secondary examination. Of the 1,552 examinees who sat from the institution, 1,551 passed, a pass rate of 99.94 percent. A total of 561 students obtained GPA-5.
The college’s success came to light when the Dhaka Education Board published the Higher Secondary results at 10am on Saturday (31 October).
The college’s administrative department said students did well in all three groups this year: science, business studies and humanities. In science, 394 of the 1,058 examinees obtained GPA-5. In business studies, 69 of 180 and in humanities, 98 of 311 obtained GPA-5. The pass rate in business studies and humanities was 100 percent.
The college authorities also explained why the pass rate was not 100 percent. One student could not sit the exam after falling ill while the examination was under way. With that one student failing, the 100 percent pass success slipped away.
Swaib Hossain, who obtained GPA-5 in science, said, ‘I stayed in the college hostel. Our teachers and guardians worked tirelessly and kept us under constant monitoring. With their help, it was possible to achieve good results.’
Principal Herem Ullah Ahsan said, ‘We tried our best. Under the direct guidance of our managing committee chairman Abdul Kadir Molla, students were supervised round the clock through regular classes, special classes, home visits, tutorials, monthly tests and guide teachers. Alongside the students, teachers and everyone concerned worked hard.’
Abdul Kadir Molla, founder of the college and president of its governing body, said, ‘First of all, I express my gratitude to Almighty Allah. This achievement is not only the college’s; it is the achievement of the people of Narsingdi.’
The college, which started its journey in 2006, has shown success in results from the very beginning. When results were first published in 2008, the pass rate was 99 percent. In 2009, the institution came fifth in the Dhaka Education Board and sixth in the country, with a 100 percent pass rate. The college came fourth in the Dhaka board in 2010 and seventh in 2011.
For three consecutive years, 2012, 2013 and 2014, the institution came second in the Dhaka board and thus in the country, with a 100 percent pass rate. The authorities claim that even after the education board stopped publishing lists of top institutions, they maintained consistency in results. That trend of good results continued from 2015 to 2025 as well.
With a high pass rate and a large number of GPA-5s, Narsingdi’s Abdul Kadir Molla City College has shown that consistency again in this year’s results.
By the numbers
