Amid labour unrest, a total of 33 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are deployed across various industrial areas in and around Dhaka. The deployment aims to ensure overall security in the industrial areas, including garment factories, normal law and order, and public safety.
Of them, 12 platoons are on duty in Gazipur, 11 in Savar and Ashulia, 7 in Narayanganj and 3 in Mirpur.
The press release further said armoured personnel carriers and riot control vehicles have also been deployed to strengthen security and deal with any untoward situation.
Technology is also being used for surveillance—the situation is being monitored live by drone. BGB members are using body-worn cameras and improvised body-worn cameras while on duty.
These activities are being monitored and coordinated round the clock from the monitoring cell at BGB headquarters.
BGB is on alert, coordinating with the local administration and police, to maintain a peaceful environment in the industrial areas and deal with any possible untoward situation. The overall situation in the areas concerned is being closely watched.
BGB’s operations will continue to ensure public safety, maintain a normal working environment in the industrial areas and keep law and order normal.
