Rehana Akter Ranu, a member of parliament from a reserved women’s seat, has delivered a speech criticising Sheikh Hasina at an event organised in the presence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at Fulgazi in Feni.
She spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the Family Card, Farmer Card and allowance programme for imams, muezzins and priests at the Fulgazi Pilot High School ground on Thursday afternoon. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was the chief guest at the event.
In her speech, Rehana Akter Ranu said the people of this country have not only driven Sheikh Hasina out of her home but also forced her to leave the country. Raising the issue of the house at Dhanmondi 32, she said thieves have taken away even the tin sheets of the house. In her words, ‘Allah is trying Sheikh Hasina.’
Raising the issue of Begum Khaleda Zia, she said an attempt had once been made to erase her name, but the situation has changed with the passage of time. She also remarked that Sheikh Hasina and her associates have had to leave the country.
At the time, Ranu praised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman by mentioning a rhyme popular among the people of Fulgazi. She said, ‘Green chillies washed on the ladle, our grandson has a cool head.’ She also remarked that the prime minister will tackle all conspiracies with a cool head.
At the event, alongside the Family Card and Farmer Card programmes, the allowance programme for religious figures including imams, muezzins and priests was inaugurated.
