Born on the same day, two Gobindaganj children drown in a pond on the same day

Two cousins, Abdullah Al Araf and Miftahul Jannat, drowned in a pond next to their home in Gobindaganj.
The two-year-old children were born on the same day, and they died on the same day too. The incident has caused a stir in the area and cast a pall of mourning.
The accident took place in Chowdhurypara village of Talukkanupur union of the upazila this morning, Monday. Araf was the son of Abdur Razzak of the village, and Miftahul the daughter of Ashraful.
Police and locals said the two children fell into the pond next to the house around 11am after going out to play without telling anyone in the family. After a search, they were pulled out of the water and taken to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
Gobindaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahfuz Alam confirmed the incident to BSS. He said police had visited the scene. As the family had no complaint, permission was given to bury the bodies of the two children.
