Speaking at a freshers’ reception at Joypara University College in Dohar upazila of Dhaka on Thursday, BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that attempts are being made once again to destabilise the political arena.
He said, ‘What is the purpose of the opposition’s long march? The ruling party has not arrested or persecuted them in any way, as used to be done during Hasina’s time.’
Noting that the government is making all-out efforts to tackle the energy crisis, Rizvi said the previous Awami League government had set up rental and quick rental power plants precisely to plunder public money. Rent had to be paid on these plants even when they generated no electricity.
The BNP leader alleged that the then government had even made a law barring anyone from speaking about the rental and quick rental power plants, yet the present opposition says nothing about these matters.
The programme, conducted by Joypara College Chhatra Dal general secretary Asaduzzaman, was attended by Dhaka-1 MP Khandaker Abu Ashfaq, central Chhatra Dal general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir and Joypara College Chhatra Dal president Soumik Sanu Molla, among others.
